NOTD: China Glaze Sweet Hook

I'm completely in love with purples, either it be almost black, or a light pastel lilac such as China Glaze's Sweet Hook. I tend not to wear dark purples in the summer, so lighter shade are perfect for when the suns shining!
If you're wanting light purple, on the blue side this is beautiful. It was opaque in 2 coats, sometimes 3.
The only problem I would say Sweet Hook has is the first coat looks horrible, I thought I wasn't going to have luck with this one, but it turned out really well!
The colour really makes me miss easter, doesn't the background look like bunnies fur?! :D
How is everyones weekend going? My weekend was filled with work and not really any day light. Sweet  Hook is how I recovered and brightened my Monday!

Do you have any nail polishes that brighten your day?

New Nail Polish Rack

When I go to a salon, department store or drug store I am never able to leave unless I've looked at some nail polishes.

I'm a sucker for anything OPI, Essie, Deborah Lippmann and various others. Butter London would defiantly be in there, but Vancouver is the closed I've seen them, so I haven't picked one up yet. Did you know they won't ship Butter London nail polishes to me because of some shipping law due to an ingredient. Okay, I'll stop with my complaining about Butter London.

Whenever I take my boyfriend with me, it's always the same thing;

Me: Ooooh! Look how pretty this is! I need it.
Him: Don't you have one that looks exactly like this?
Me: No, this ones lighter/darker/has more/less [insert colour here] than the one you're thinking of.
Him: If you say so...

Well, lets just say, he's almost always right when he thinks I have the same shade. I have countless amounts of sea-foam greens, and dark purples. I have some where I literally can't tell them apart.

For an early birthday present, he came home with this;
A place to store almost all of my nail polishes! He didn't realize how many I actually had. (87 to be exact)
Made of pine, with a wood stain.

There is even a little lip so they don't fall off! :D

I was completely thrilled to be able to see them all. Before they used to be stored in a glass bowl which is not only bad for the nail polishes, but bad for my wallet because I kept buying ones I didn't know I had similar colours to.

Hopefully its a little inspiration to be organized with your nail polishes if you aren't already! :)

I also went a little overboard and got nail polish wheels to see them all, instead of comparing in bottles.

I organized them by colour range, and also have a diagram drawn out in a note book! I'm quite surprised, I'm normally not this organized. :P

Hope you beauties have a great weekend!

Haul: Benefit, Clarins and Misc.

Hi Beauties! I hope you've been having a great week. Yesterday my boyfriend and I had the day off, so we took a road trip to a semi-large city and did some shopping!

I decided to pick up some new summer clothes and did a little cosmetic shopping as well. :)

Hope you enjoy!

Tweezerman Professional Folding Lash Comb

If any of you have watched Wayne Goss's Youtube channel GossMakeupArtist then you might be aware of the unique use that you can use this baby for. If you aren't sure what I'm talking about the link to the video will be below. Ever since I seen this I was spectacle if it would actually work, and decided I'd have to try it out myself.

I haven't had a chance to try if out myself yet, but I'll defiantly inform you when I do!

Benefit Eye Bright

This was defiantly a want, more than a need. I already have to many multiple-use eye highlighters that it wasn't the smartest purchase, but I do love it.

Stroke this pink brightening pencil on the inner and outer corners of the eye to look instantly wide-awake. It helps absorb dark shadows on the inner and outer corner of the eye...like a coffee break in a stick! For best results, apply as the final step after you've applied other makeup. Perfect for all skin tones.

-Benefit Cosmetics

When I used this product I placed it on the inner corner of the eyes, the outer corner of my eyes and under my brow. My under eye circles were unusually dark so blended it into the darkest part of my under eye circles and finished with concealer.

Spa Sister Microfiber Thirsty Hairband

I decided to add this into my beauty haul because when I wash my face, I'm not the greatest about splashing my face with water. I never go without getting it all over my bangs, chest and floor and this will hopefully fix my problem about getting my bangs wet.

Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector - 02

I have been lusting after this since Sandra from 15stepsblog.com had been raving about it for months.
The shade I chose in 02 is in a beautiful peach sorbet hue, although it doesn't change my lip colour dramatically, I like to think I'm following the latest trend. ;)

The formulation of the Lip Perfector's are very smooth, they feel more like a balm then a gloss, but still leave a long lasting glossy sheen to the lips.

Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II

I'll put out the disclaimer right now, that I am defiantly not a camera expert, so this isn't going to be any kind of review.

I didn't even buy the lens that I initially wanted and ended up with this one because that sales person didn't know what he was talking about. Luckily, I don't mind it, I originally wanted to purchase a lens that I could do simple macro shots for so that my blog pictures would be better quality. What I did get was a great lens for taking portraits of family and friends. I love pictures that have an amazing depth of field so that my subject is in focus and then the back ground is blurry or has bokeh, as experts like to call it, and this lens gives me exactly that.

Thankfully I didn't pay a fortune for it, as it was about $130.00 after tax.

OPI'S Black Cherry Chutney

Because I have a bad obsession with nail polish's and that I can barely resist one, I had to purchase a beautiful red with gold and purple duo-chrome.

I'ts quite difficult to get a good picture of the duo-chrome, I apologize!
Nail Polish Wheel

I had kept meaning to pick these up every time I went to a Sally's Beauty Supply, but always forgot. As you may have guessed, I finally remembered! Now I can keep track of all my nail polishes so I don't buy the same colour 3 different times, and then have to find excuses for my boyfriend on why I have bought a  3rd sea foam green nail polish. It has become a problem.

I hope you all have a end of the week!

NOTD: China Glaze's Electric Beat

Natural light
2 coats of pure perfection

I've been loving blue nail polish lately, as you can probably tell since my last NOTD is a blue nail polish! Unlike the last post, this polish went on beautifully, smooth and no problems putting on a second coat before it dries. :)

By the way, I have the worst luck with my lately, they are dry cracked and just, icky looking, any of you beauties have any tips?

NOTD: China Glaze's Aquadelic

Hi, Beauties! Heres a NOTD that I had promised from the last haul I did. If you missed it heres the link.

Hope you're all having a great weekend!
Let me just start off by saying, I hate the consistency of this nail polish. The colour is beautiful, so beautiful that I will probably still wear the nail polish.

The consistency was goopy, it bubbled (even with a base coat) and it took forever to dry. I was so disappointed in the polish that it didn't stay on longer than a day, because the unevenness and bubbles were driving me crazy, I had to remove it.

I'm not sure if I got a bad bottle, since I normally don't have many problems with China Glaze's nail polish, I'd steel be eerie of purchasing it if I were you!

What are you wearing on your nails today?

xoxo, Ashley

Haul: Deals, Deals, Deals!

The products! Can you believe this only cost about $55.00!
I was a bad blogger and forgot to take pictures of the Loreal Colour
Riche Balm products so I went and took a quick picture. :)

Loreal Colour Riche Balm 118 Pink Satin

Loreal Colour Riche Balm 219 Plush Plum
Swatches of Loreal Colour Riche Balm's
Left: 118 Pink Satin
 Right: 219 Plush Plum
118 Pink Satin doesn't add any colour to the overall lip, I find it gives it a gloss with gold flecks. The gold flecks are hard to pick up on camera. :( This one has been in my purse for the last week and I've been loving it.

219 Plush Plum has a bit to much pigmentation than I was hoping, but if you like a darker lip check this one out!

Benefit Girl Meets Pearl

Swatch of Girl Meets Pearl.
This is an amazing highlighter, it gives a subtle but still noticeable golden sheen on the cheek bones. I use this not only on the cheek bones but I bring it up my temples and under my eye brow. If I'm not very oily that day I will also put it down the centre of my nose and a slight about on my chin.

$15.00 at Shoppers Drug Mart!

My SDM doesn't normally carry Benefit, so it most likely won't be on sale anywhere that has the whole line of Benefit products. This product isn't being discontinued, so no need to worry! :)

There are 3 China Glaze nail polishes in this Haul as well, they will have swatches in the next couple weeks as 'Nail Of The Day' posts!

The nail polishes were 3 for $20 at my community's trade show. Trade shows are where local business get together and promote their products and services, they always have great deals!

Have you found any outstanding deals lately?

Tutorial: Guerlain Les Perles

Image from Guerlain
With the price of Guerlain products, this was one of the products I wasn't completely wanting to purchase. Normally if I see something I like, I buy it, but being at almost $60 for the palette I wasn't sure if it was worth it. I had been looking at it online for a little while and when I finally was able to see it in person, without question, I needed it.

The pigmentation is amazing in these eyeshadows, they do have shimmer, but it won't make your eye look like a disco ball. The only shade that doesn't get enough love is the baby pink shade because I personally don't like pink on my eyes. It still is a beautiful colour on other skin tones.

I first used my finger to blend the grey shade all over my eyelid.
I then took a Mac 286 and used the dark purple shade to accentuate the crease.
I also took the purple shade under my lower lash line.
With the white shade I used a fluffy brush to lighten the inner corner and on the brow bone.
If you need to, fill in those brows. They only frame the face. ;)
Just add some mascara and Ta-Da! and you're finished!

It's hopefully pretty easy to follow along, the biggest tip I have is to blend! In the crease I almost always take my brush from the outer corner in using, small circles.
